Link a WhatsApp number by QR code

An unofficial, opt-in way to bring any WhatsApp number into the inbox with a QR code: the risks, the prices, the limits and what to do after a ban.

Last checked For: Administrators

Steps

  1. Know what this is

This connection is unofficial. Your number, personal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, is linked to Ringura as a device, the way WhatsApp Web is, outside WhatsApp's official Business Platform. It is not provided or approved by WhatsApp or Meta, and using it can break WhatsApp's terms. WhatsApp may restrict or ban the number at any time, without warning, and we cannot prevent or reverse that. A personal number used for business carries extra risk: if it is banned you can lose WhatsApp on that number altogether, personal chats included. If the number matters to your business, use the official connection.

  2. Check the prices

Open Channels and, in the WhatsApp section, open Link by QR code (unofficial). Three things are charged in advance from your wallet. The feature has a plan price per month, however many numbers you link. Each number has a monthly fee, and each message you send has a charge: these depend on the country and are shown as the current price, which can change. A country with no current price cannot be linked. Messages you receive are free for now, on a line of their own. The page shows your total for the month so far.

  3. Read and accept

Choose the country of the number, read the terms under Before you link, tick the box and choose Accept and show the QR code. Only an administrator can do this. Who accepted, when, the version of the terms and the address it came from are kept in your audit log, and this is asked again on every new scan.

  4. Scan the code

On the phone, open WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, go to Settings, then Linked devices, then Link a device, and scan the code. The month is charged from your wallet when the scan succeeds, at the current price for the real number's country, not before. If the wallet can no longer pay, or that country has no current price, the link is undone and nothing is charged. New chats then appear in the inbox like any other channel. Older chats are not brought across, and group chats are ignored. The phone must stay in use: WhatsApp ends linked devices when the phone is away for about two weeks.

  5. Reply from the inbox

Agents reply with text, images, documents, audio and video from the inbox, and delivered and read ticks appear on each message. A message that has no current price, or that the wallet cannot pay, is refused. Each number sends at most 20 messages a minute and 500 a day. You can set lower limits under the number; they can never be raised above these.

  6. Watch the status

Each number shows Connected, Reconnecting, Waiting for scan, Needs a new scan, Logged out or Banned or restricted. A short network drop reconnects by itself. If the number is removed from Linked devices on the phone, or WhatsApp ends the link, your administrators receive an e-mail and the status changes. Choose Link again to scan a new code for the same number.

  7. Get or replace a number

Choose Get a new number to buy one in the number shop, as often as you like, at the shop's current price. Choose Replace number to unlink one number and link another: the old number's conversations stay in the inbox, and the next scan pays a new month for the new number whatever is already paid. A replacement after a ban is a normal paid purchase, with no refund.

  8. Use a number from the shop

A number from the shop can only be used if it has voice and you route its calls to an agent who answers, because WhatsApp's verification is a call that reads out a code and there is no voicemail. You still need a phone running WhatsApp with that number, and WhatsApp may refuse some virtual numbers. Try one before you buy more.

  9. Keep it honest

You are responsible for how the number is used, for your own consent from the people you write to, and for your volumes. Do not send bulk or cold messages: they are the quickest way to lose a number. Campaigns, broadcasts, the dialler, templates, flows and the AI agent cannot use a linked number, and only a person in the inbox can send on it.

Good to know

  • Fees are charged in advance, on the same day each month from the first scan. Nothing is refunded if a number is restricted, banned, logged out, replaced or disconnected.
  • If a renewal cannot be paid, sending is paused after your grace period, which is none unless your provider set one. The link stays up and messages keep arriving. Top up your wallet and sending resumes at the next check, within about 15 minutes.
  • A number that is logged out, banned or waiting for a new scan is not charged for further months, though the feature is until you disconnect it. Linking it again starts a new month.
  • Choose Disconnect to end a link: the device is removed, the connection's keys are deleted and its fee stops. With your last link gone, the feature fee stops too. Your conversations stay in the inbox.
  • Messages sent from the phone itself do not appear in the inbox.
  • One link holds one number. Scanning with a different number is refused: use Replace number.
