Connect your WhatsApp Business app number and keep the phone

Connect the number on your WhatsApp Business app so Ringura and the phone work side by side: what you need, what changes and the one-time sync.

Last checked For: Administrators

Steps

  1. Check what you need

You need admin access to your Meta business portfolio, or you can create one in the flow, and the WhatsApp Business app version 2.24.17 or newer on the phone. Have the phone with you. In the console open Channels. How do you want to connect? shows the options, with the list under Before you start.

  2. Know what changes in the app

Broadcast lists stop: you cannot create new ones and existing ones become read-only. Disappearing messages, view-once messages and live location are turned off in one-to-one chats. All linked devices are unlinked when you connect, and you can link up to four again afterwards. WhatsApp for Windows and WhatsApp for Wear OS are not supported. Meta limits a number used in both places to 20 messages per second.

  3. Start the connection

Under Connect the number on my WhatsApp Business app (keep using the phone) choose Connect my WhatsApp Business app number. In the new tab choose Connect with Facebook, sign in and enter the number. WhatsApp shows a code. In the app open the message from Facebook Business, tap Connect, Connect to the Business Platform and Confirm, which also offers chat history sharing, then paste the code. If your number is not eligible, Meta's screen says so.

  4. Run the one-time sync

As soon as the number connects, choose Sync contacts and chat history now, on that page or on the number under Channels. Contacts and up to 180 days of one-to-one chats come across. It runs once and must start within 24 hours of connecting. Keep the app open on the phone; it can take several minutes. To repeat it, or if the 24 hours pass, disconnect in the app and connect again.

  5. Use both

Customer messages appear in the app and the inbox. What you send from the phone shows on the conversation, marked WhatsApp Business app. Replies from the app are free and do not touch the 24-hour window. Replies from Ringura cost Meta's Cloud API prices and need that window, which opens when a customer writes after you connected; until then use a template.

  6. Keep the phone active

Meta disconnects the number if the phone is inactive for about 14 days, or a linked device for about 30. The number then shows why, nothing can be sent from Ringura, and you connect it again with the same option.

  7. Stop using it here

Disconnect stops the number in Ringura only. To take it off Meta's platform, open the WhatsApp Business app and go to Settings, Account, Business Platform, Disconnect Account.

Good to know

  • Until this platform has Meta's approval the option says it is not available yet. Connect a number with your own Meta app works today, but a number connected that way runs on Meta's Cloud API only and cannot stay in the WhatsApp Business app.
  • Group chats, calls, catalogues, orders, status, quick replies, labels and greeting and away messages stay in the app and do not appear in Ringura.
  • A customer message can show as unsupported, such as a first message or one from a companion device Meta does not support. Check the app for it.
  • If another Meta partner still shares a credit line with you, Meta may show an error when you switch.
