Getting started

Set up two-step verification

Add an authenticator app to your login, store the recovery codes and know what to do if you lose your phone.

Last checked For: Everyone who signs in

Steps

  1. Start the set-up

When your account needs two-step verification, the console shows Set up two-step verification before anything else. Have an authenticator app ready on your phone, then choose Start set-up.

  2. Add the account to your app

Add the key shown on the page in your authenticator app. If the app is on the device you are using, choose Open in authenticator app instead.

  3. Confirm with a code

Enter the 6-digit code the app shows, then choose Confirm.

  4. Store your recovery codes

Your recovery codes are shown once. Each one works once if you lose your phone, so store them somewhere safe, then choose I have stored these codes.

  5. Sign in with a code

From now on every sign-in asks for the 6-digit code. If you cannot use the app, choose Use a recovery code instead.

Good to know

  • Manage your verification later on the Security page: you can replace the recovery codes (you enter a current code to do it) and, where your role and organisation allow it, switch verification off.
  • A code can be used once. If the console says a code was already used, wait for the app to show the next one. After too many wrong codes the account is locked for a while and the console shows until when.
  • If you lose both the phone and the recovery codes, ask an administrator of your organisation, or write to hello@ringura.com.
