Recording and the notice callers hear
Set whether calls are recorded, the notice played and the consent mode, for your account and per number, queue and campaign.
Steps
Know your duty
Telling callers that a call is recorded, and on what basis, is your legal duty as the business. Agree the wording with your adviser and record it as a sound, for example under Typed prompts.
Open the page
Choose Recording and notices in the menu. Until you set something, your phone system keeps doing what it does today.
Set your default
Under Your default, choose Record calls, enter the sound in Notice to play and choose Consent. Anything left on As the level above stays as it is.
Choose a consent mode
Notice only plays the sound and goes on. Caller may press 9 to refuse plays it and stops the recording if the caller presses 9. Recorded only if the caller presses 1 records only a caller who presses 1, so anyone who does nothing is not recorded. With either key, the sound must tell the caller what to press.
Add an exception
Under Numbers, queues and campaigns, choose what it applies to, name it, set what differs and choose Save this override. A number beats its queue, and a queue beats your default. A campaign beats your default for outgoing calls.
Apply it
Number and queue changes reach the phone system when you apply them on the Agents page. A campaign's change goes with its next call.
Good to know
- Saving a consent mode with no notice to play is refused: a caller cannot answer a question nobody asked.
- Test each number after a change, with a real call, before you rely on it.
