Run a preference centre with marketing topics
Let customers choose the channels and topics they hear about on their own page, with one-click unsubscribe and a consent record.
Steps
Open the page
Choose Preference centre in the menu. Administrators see it. It lists the marketing topics customers choose from on their own preference page.
Add a topic
Under Add a topic, enter a Name, which customers see, and a Description if it helps, then choose Add topic. An account can have up to 50 topics.
Retire a topic
Choose Retire on a row to take the topic off the customer's page. A topic is never deleted, because the consent record names it. Choose Restore to bring it back.
Send on a topic
When you create a marketing broadcast, choose its Topic. A contact who unticked that topic is skipped, and the broadcast's results show Declined this topic.
Give a customer their link
Open the contact and, under Preference link, choose Get the link. It is a signed link that needs no login and does not expire. Marketing e-mail broadcasts add it automatically, with one-click unsubscribe.
Know what the customer sees
The page carries your company name and your brand. It lists the marketing channels the customer can be reached on and your active topics, with Save preferences and Unsubscribe from all marketing. Messages about their own requests continue.
Good to know
- Every choice is written to the consent record, so campaigns and broadcasts honour it with nothing more to set.
- Opening an unsubscribe link changes nothing: the customer has to confirm it, so a mail scanner cannot unsubscribe anyone.
- A link for a contact who has been erased shows This link is not valid.
