Channels
Set up e-mail and web chat
Put the chat widget on your website, then add a sending domain and publish its DNS records for e-mail.
Steps
Create the web chat
Create a queue first (guide). On Getting started, under Connect a channel, enter Your website address and choose Create the web chat.
Paste the snippet
Paste the snippet into every page of your site, before the closing body tag. The widget appears on those pages.
Shape the widget
On Desk settings, set the Pre-chat form, proactive invitations, out-of-hours behaviour, consent and the widget theme.
Add a sending domain
For e-mail, open Channels. Under Sending domains, choose Add a domain. A mailbox sends only from a domain whose SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are in place.
Publish the DNS records
The page lists DNS records to publish with their type, host and value. Publish them at your DNS host, then choose Check DNS now. Each record shows whether it was found, and whether DMARC is aligned.
Receive e-mail
Under Mailboxes, forward each support address to its forwarding address on the domain shown, or point your MX records at the inbound relay.
Good to know
- DNS changes can take a while to reach everyone. If a check fails straight after you publish a record, wait and check again.
- WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Viber and SMS are separate channels: see Connect WhatsApp with your own Meta account.
